Bormes-Les-Mimosas

This 12th-century medieval village boasts some 700 rare plant species. From January to March, this medieval village is decked out in a long "buttercup scarf", an explosion of yellows and perfumes. Known as the mimosa capital of the Var region, it boasts no fewer than 90 species. Nearby, you'll find the famous white sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters of Cabasson, Brégançon, l'Estagnol and Pellegrin.

Agenda

THINGS TO SEE, THINGS TO DO ...

Mimosalia

Every year on the last weekend in January, Mimosalia, the leading event for gardening enthusiasts, invites you to discover collectors' plants, rare plants and other unusual varieties. Two days of the latest developments in the world of plants and garden design with France's leading botanists.

Fort de Brégançon / Old village

This extraordinary site, at the tip of the small hamlet of Cabasson, became the official residence of the Presidents of the Republic in 1968 at the suggestion of General De Gaulle. All the heads of state of the Fifth Republic have stayed here: General De Gaulle, Georges Pompidou, Valéry Giscard d'Estaing, François Mitterrand, Jacques Chirac, Nicolas Sarkozy, François Hollande and Emmanuel Macron.

Parc Gonzales

This 3,000 m² property was bought by the painter Roberta González, daughter of the sculptor Julio González and wife of the abstract painter Hans Hartung in 1939, residing there with her husband until their divorce in 1953. In 1996, the owners Viviane Grimminger and Carmen Martinez bequeathed the garden to the commune of Bormes-les-Mimosas on condition that they kept the park open to the public and created a garden with Australian vegetation. Gilles Augias, a landscape gardener from Bormes-les-Mimosas, laid out the garden with 320 plants of 250 species at the end of 2001. The garden was officially opened to the public on Saturday 24 January 2004, during the 8th edition of Mimosalia.

WALKS IN THE MASSIF DES MAURES

Admire the castle of the Lords of Fos, discover the 7 oratories of the ancient Way of the Cross and enjoy the panoramic view of the îles d'Or. Pass by the Pierre d'Avenon: the highest point in the Maures region, or walk through a cork oak forest.

JULIEN CAVATORE, NURSERY GARDENER, MIMOSA GROWER

As nursery gardeners, growers and collectors, we're passionate about Mimosas, and we regularly work to introduce and acclimatise new species that are as curious as they are surprising, from the great botanical diversity represented by the Acacia genus.

FLOWER PARADEI

Undoubtedly the most beautiful flower parade on the Côte d'Azur, the Corso de Bormes-les-Mimosas promises to be another magnificent and surprising occasion with a host of beautifully decorated floats.
